Will the system really pay itself back?
Yes. Payback timing depends on the size you choose. The 36-hole Core reaches payback at approximately Month 14; the 24-hole Core at approximately Month 16. Both calculations are based on current organic grocery prices for the high-value gourmet greens and herbs these systems produce. High-value herbs and gourmet lettuces accelerate the return; if you grow lower-value crops, it takes a little longer.
I’m not good at gardening. Is this for me?
Absolutely. TSG is designed for people who want the results of gardening without needing to be experts. Our smart automation handles the watering, the nutrients, and the timing. You just provide the intention.
How much time does it actually take each week?
On average, the 36-hole system needs roughly 15–20 minutes per week for harvesting and basic maintenance (sensor checks, reservoir refill). The 24-hole runs at around 10–15 minutes per week. The automation handles everything in between.
What happens if something breaks?
We believe in agency and repairability. Our systems are built on open-hardware standards. We provide priority support with a 24hr response time for subscribers, and The Hive community is always there for troubleshooting.
Can I manage it if I travel or go away?
Yes. This is the “Austria Experience.” You can monitor your sensors and manage your irrigation remotely via the TSG App. We also recommend designating a “Local Contact” from The Hive to check your system if you are away for an extended period.
What’s the difference between Core and Pro?
Both editions include full remote monitoring — flow, reservoir level, temperature, and humidity. The Pro Edition adds inline pH and EC (electrical conductivity) sensors, which tell you the chemistry of your nutrient solution in real time. Core is the right choice for most growers. Pro is for those who want to push yield quality, grow more demanding varieties, or troubleshoot nutrient issues before they show up in the plants.
Which size should I choose — 24-hole or 36-hole?
24-hole for one or two people cooking regularly from the garden. 36-hole for families of three or more, or anyone who wants surplus to preserve, share, or sell. If you’re unsure, start smaller — a second unit can always be added later. We also build custom configurations for unusual spaces. Ask us .
What is The Hive and do I need to join?
The Hive is our community hub on Discourse. You don’t “need” to join, but we highly recommend it. It’s where we share seeds, troubleshoot systems, and hold each other accountable for our Seasonal Shifts.
Do I need a full system to benefit from TSG?
No. You can start with our Seed Collection or join the Reading Circle today. TSG is a philosophy first, and hardware second.
Is the packaging actually plastic-free?
Yes. We use compostable hemp plugs, water-activated paper tape, and recycled shredded fibre for padding. We grow life, not waste.
What does the $45/month subscription include?
It includes a full monthly supply of concentrated nutrients, a remote digital sensor audit, and priority technical support.
